We build flow wrapping machines for the horizontal flow pack packaging of solid food and non-food products. A flow pack machine wraps each product, or a compact group of products, in film from a reel and closes it in a pillow bag: one longitudinal seal and two cross seals.
We make five series, each in a standard range of 200 to 1000 mm reel widths (the number in the model is that width: FP200 = 200 mm reel), and any other size to order: the FP Flowpack packaging machine (FP200 to FP1000, up to 60 bags/min), the servo FPS Flowpack (FP200S to FP1000S, three servo motors, up to 80 bags/min), the inverted FPI Flowpack (FP200I to FP1000I, hygienic design for fresh or moist products), the inverted servo FPIS Flowpack (FP200IS to FP1000IS) and the Box Motion FPBM Flowpack (FP200BM to FP1000BM, for tall or delicate products and hermetic seals).

Flow pack packaging (also called flow wrapping or horizontal flow pack packaging) is how biscuits, bars, bakery, fruit and non-food products are packed in a pillow bag that fits the product. The product travels horizontally, the film wraps it into a tube and the machine seals and cuts between one product and the next.
A vertical packaging machine doses loose product from above; a horizontal flow wrapper works with solid products that keep their shape and arrive one by one or in compact groups. For doypacks or premade pouches with zipper or spout, see our horizontal packaging machines.
Infeed. Pushers carry each product along the infeed conveyor; on the inverted flow wrapper, a belt with a position sensor.
Unwinding. The self-centring reel holder feeds the film. With printed film, the eye-mark sensor keeps the design in place.
Forming. The film wraps the product and forms the tube of the bag.
Longitudinal sealing. The longitudinal fin is sealed with PID-controlled temperature (±0.5 °C); on the inverted machine, at the top, with two pairs of rollers.
Cross sealing and cutting. The jaw seals both ends and the knife cuts between products: cross-serrated jaw and zigzag cut on the FP and FPS, rotary jaw with fixed knife on the FPI and Box Motion jaws on the FPBM.
Outfeed. The bag goes on to the metal detector, the checkweigher and case packing.
With the no product, no bag function (FPS, FPI and FPBM), the machine makes no bags when no product arrives.

The inverted flow wrapper (FPI and FPIS) has the reel at the bottom: the film rises and wraps the product from below, and the longitudinal seal is made at the top. With easy access for cleaning and stainless steel in every product-contact part, it is the choice for fresh or moist products.
The number is the reel width. Every series has a standard range of 200, 400, 600, 800 and 1000 mm (FP200 to FP1000) and we build any other size to order; the letters give the series: S, servo; I, inverted; IS, inverted servo; BM, Box Motion.

Format. The pillow bag is the classic flow pack and the format of all our series: one longitudinal seal and two cross seals.
Films. Heat-sealable, laminated (for example OPP+PE) and cold-seal films (OPP, PE, PVC, OPP/CPP, PT/PE, KOP/CPP), plain or printed with eye mark. Reels 200 to 1000 mm wide depending on the model.
Coding and shelf life. The FP, FPS and FPBM come prepared for a printer; the FP and FPS are also prepared for inert gas (modified atmosphere, MAP), and the FPBM offers an inert gas injection system as an option.

We choose the series and the reel width for your product, the speed you need and your line. Tell us what you want to pack and we will tell you which flow pack machine fits.
Around the flow pack machine we build the rest of the line: product infeed, printer, metal detector, checkweigher and case packing and palletising. If you need the whole line from one supplier, see our turnkey packaging lines.
Watch our flow wrapping machines at work with different products, from the infeed to sealing and cutting the bag. There are more examples in our flow pack packaging playlist on YouTube.
Horizontal packaging in a pillow bag: the product travels horizontally, film from a reel wraps it into a tube and the machine makes one longitudinal seal and two cross seals. It is used for solid products, single or in compact groups.
In six steps: product infeed (chain conveyor or belt), film unwinding, tube forming, longitudinal sealing, cross sealing with a cut between products and outfeed to quality control and case packing.
Up to 60 bags per minute on the FP, up to 80 on the FPS with three servo motors (100 in its biscuit version), up to 60 on the inverted FPI (FP600I), up to 90 on the inverted servo FPIS (FP450IS), 30 on the FP900IS with shrink film and up to 60 on the FPBM Box Motion (FP600BM).
On the standard machines (FP and FPS) the product travels with pushers and the film wraps it from above. On the inverted one (FPI) the film comes from below and the longitudinal seal is at the top: a hygienic design for fresh or moist products.
Heat-sealable, laminated (for example OPP+PE) and cold-seal films, plain or printed with eye mark, on reels 200 to 1000 mm wide depending on the model.
The number is the reel width in millimetres (FP600 = 600 mm); the standard range goes from 200 to 1000 mm and we build other sizes to order. The letters give the series: S, servo; I, inverted; IS, inverted servo; BM, Box Motion.
Yes: the FP and FPS come prepared for inert gas (MAP), and the FPBM offers an inert gas injection system as an option. All three come prepared for a printer.
A flow wrapper wraps solid products that arrive one by one or in groups; a vertical machine doses loose products (powder, granules, small pieces) from above into a bag made from a reel.
