Packaging solutions

Pulses and cereals packaging

Pulses, rice, quinoa, cereals and pasta are dry, free-flowing products, but they are heavy, abrasive and dusty. Consumers also expect packs that stand up on the shelf, such as the Stabilo four-side-seal bag.

At YM Packaging we manufacture vertical and horizontal packaging machines and bagging machines for these products, from the half-kilo bag to the large sack, and we build the complete line with weighing, quality control and case packing.

Pulses and cereals

Machines by product

Packing pulses and cereals: the challenges

  • Heavy, abrasive product: grains and pasta wear contact parts, so the build must be robust.
  • Dust: product dust can affect the bag seal.
  • Shelf presence: Stabilo and flat-bottom bags stand upright and stand out.
  • From retail to bulk: consumer bags and sacks for foodservice and industry.

Common packs for pulses and cereals

Recommended machines

A typical pulses and cereals packing line

  2. Weighing with a multihead weigher or volumetric cup filler.
  3. Forming, filling and sealing of the bag or sack.
  4. Checkweighing and metal detection.
  5. Case packing and palletising.
